5 Years ago Today...

It's one those things that can't really be put into words. Everyone feels how they feel about what happened and yet no one can really express it. The thing is though, that no one needs to. We all experienced what happened on September 11th 2001, whether directly or indirectly, and we all felt the impact that it had on the world. The fact that 5 years on, it still affects us all, (and there was no doubt that it would) even those of us with no real links to the events, shows just how much the world has changed. There is nothing I or anyone can say to make things seem better, or even to console, but on this day every year, if we can all just stop and think, as the families of the lost must do every day, about the events of that day and how an uncountable number of people banded together and became forever known as heroes in their own right, then nothing will really change, but it's definitely something.

What Else Is New?

After that not so chipper post, I thought I'd post basically just a random list of current interests at the moment. So....

Televisual Obsession of the Moment: 'Reunion'. It is such a good show and minutes into the pilot, I fell in love with it! Have only seen the first 2 episodes so far, (number 3 is waiting for me!), but I just can't get enough. I am aware that sadly it was cancelled, and I'm not happy about it, but it just makes the episodes I have yet to see all the more special! Long live the 80s!!

DVD Obsession of the Moment: 'Twin Peaks'. It's excellent! Again, only watched the first 2 episodes, but more shall be watched tonight! It's just so creepy and intriguing! Actually I'm not ashamed to admit that I have had to watch it from behind covers on occasion. Creepy man!

Musical Obsession of the Moment: 'Breakaway' by Kelly Clarkson. I just love this song! Can't get enough and have been listening to it so much recently. Probably far too much, but hey if my iPod wants to make me listen to it when I press shuffle, then hey it must be a sign!
Also, another musical obsession is 'Snakes On a Plane (Bring It)' by Cobra Starship. From the movie, it's just such a wicked song!

Textual Obsession of the Moment (aka What I am Reading at the Moment): 'The Martian Chronicles' by Ray Bradbury. Recommended by my favourite magazine (SFX!!), I started reading this purely on that, and it is actually really good. And apparently it's like a classic, so that's cool too!

So there you go, that's all my latest obessions. They will no doubt change soon, and I'll move onto something else, but the obsession of these ones still stand, it just wont be 'of the moment' anymore... :D

Everything's Changing But I Just Stay The Same...

Today's been pretty long, or at least it has seemed that way. As previously stated, I went to visit my grandparents after work and them being the interested, lovely people that they are, they were asking me all sorts of questions such as 'so what are you doing with yourself this year?', and it kinda depressed me slightly. I mean, OK I'm totally cool with the fact that everyone is off to university or college this year and I'm taking a year out, I mean I made the decision, and I still stick by it, but today just made me realise how lonely this year is gonna be. I mean, everyone will be off experiencing new things and meeting new people, and I'll be stuck doing nothing. OK, not nothing, but it's gonna be hard. I know things always seem worse at night time when I'm all thinky and over-analytic, but even if it is slightly exaggerated, the facts still stand. Everyone is changing and moving on, and for another year I'm just gonna be alone and the same...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not like majorly upset about this or anything, it just kinda sucks and me being me, I'm thinking too much. I guess this is all how it's meant to be. It's all good. Or at least it will be, eventually...

Hard Day's Work!

Spent today (or at least some of it) rearranging my room and throwing things out and putting all my books (who knew I had so many?!) together etc. I must say the task seemed daunting beforehand, but now that it's done I feel so much better. I mean, I am in no way a clean-freak, but I think I prefer my shelves tidy! So yeah, after all the hard work today and the catching up with TV at night, I'm too tired for my nightly visit to 'Twin Peaks', so I'm off to bed. Work tomorrow, and then visiting the grandparents. Man, do I know how to rock the weekend away or what...?...sense the sarcasm!

It's Finally Complete!!

That would be the Sri Lanka video in The Lost Experience! All 70 fragments have been released and found, and I am pretty confident that I have them all in the correct order. Watched the video and although anti-climactic, I guess it did make more sense watching it all at once and the overall point of it is kinda interesting about the numbers. I kinda expected something to happen once I'd added all the glyphs, but nothing. I guess this whole whereisalvar.com is the next thing to watch. So anyway, the video is complete and that's that I guess. Just a case of watching and waiting and wondering what the point in it all was...

One Glyph To Go!!!

We only have one glyph left to find guys! I mean, sure the video is pretty much complete already but soon it will be officially completed! And I'm pretty confident that I have it all in the correct order, and only have one space left which I am hoping is gonna be a Hanso glyph and not a Mittelwerk one, otherwise I don't have them in the correct order after all. :S I do agree with what a few people have said about it being kinda anti-climactic. I mean, we've seen all these fragments so many times already whilst arranging them, so watching them all at once wont really be that different. Unless, there is some big twist/surprise to coincide with the release of the final glyph, I sense it's just gonna be a 'huh, ah ok.' moment, as opposed to a 'Woah! Cool, my eyes!' type moment. But that said, I'm sure this whole Apollo Candy thing will pick up soon, at least I hope so! Roll on Phase 4!

Still Awake!!

As you may or may not have worked out from the name of this post, I am still awake and have yet to sleep! Work was pretty busy and felt pretty tired after that on way home, but now I'm wide awake again. It's crazy! Although it may be the big mug of coffee I had earlier... :S...I'm so gonna pay for doing this to my body!

New Additions To My DVD Collection!

Those who know me will know that I have (in their words) 'Too many DVDs', but I say, you can never have too many DVDs, and the most recent additions are.......drumroll please!..........
  • Six Feet Under Season 3 - Have yet to finish watching seasons 1 and 2, but I'm gonna need this eventually so that's why it's here!
  • Twin Peaks Season 1 - Have heard so much about this show and thought it was about time I checked it out and delved into the so-called 'Most Talked About TV Show EVER!'. I'm sure I'll love it. Just worrying about the fact that I'm gonna get hooked and that they have no plans to release season 2! NOOOOOOO! No plans YET anyway..... :S
  • The Ultimate Matrix Collection - 10 discs man!! WOAH! Never seen the films, so I'm kinda hoping they are good. What can I say, I am a sucker for shiny packaging! And only $17.97 (that's supposed to be pounds, just donno what's up with this keyboard), so I thought why not?!
  • The Prisoner Complete Series - Hasn't technically arrived yet, but hey it's on it's way. Another one of those cult shows that I've heard so much about and just gotta check out!

Yeah, so that's basically my pointless post about my latest additions. When I will get round to watching them all is a COMPLETELY different story, but let's not go there...

Alexandra The Great!

Just realised that I'm talking about people here, and no-one will actually know who they are, so basically Alexandra is my oldest and bestest friend. Known her all my life. It's a real Dawson/Joey situation, although without the sexual tension (and with good reason). Anyway, yeah so she's the greatest and goes off to uni in 2 days! Wierd, but oh so cool! Here's a pic of her (and yes I am aware that it is wierd that I have a pic of her before I have a pic of me, but we will get there eventually, once I can actually get some decent and recent ones!):

Insomnia Thy Name Is Me!

Feeling a little surreal today. Stayed up all night with Alexandra last night watching 'The Amityville Horror' remake, which was pretty good. And also, needless to say we made smoothies! I mean, it's just gotta be done! We did have a scare to begin with, when we thought there was no chocolate powder left, but do not worry, we had some after all. Crisis averted!
Anyway, after the movie we ended up just lying chatting ALL night, so today is still kinda yesterday for me. Just one long day. Had no sleep at all. Don't actually feel tired which is probably a good thing as I'm working at 2. Knowing my luck, I'll start to feel awful at like half 1! NOOOO!
Should be fine I guess. Just wish me luck with my visit from the big boss man! Oooh! Best behaviour Andrew. So basically, now that I'm still up, I'm just killing time until I gotta start getting ready. Late night chats are fun, especially when they turn into early morning ones! I'm sure we must have covered almost every subject possible. But hey, it's us, there are always more subjects!
Although surprisingly, we didnt mention the frog....WIERD!

The Lost Experience

For anyone who has been following The Lost Experience so far, you'll no doubt know that Phase 3 is coming to an end and that there are only....4 glyphs left to find as far as I'm aware. So I'm expecting 1 tomorrow from the London Hunt and if we're lucky, they'll release the other 3 tomorrow too and we can finally get this video completed!
It'll be interesting to see what Phase 4 is, and also how long we'll have to wait for it to start. I guess it'll be once the whole Apollo chocolate thing plays out, which I'm still bitter about the fact that you can't get the bars here in Scotland. Also, if Season 3 of Lost starts on October 4th, wont that mean that Phases 4 and 5 of the Experience will have to get over with pretty quickly, as wasnt it supposed to bridge the gap between the seasons...?
Anyway, just thought I'd post to express my excitement about the Sri Lanka video finally coming to an end, and also to thank Ixalon for his coverage of the Manchester Glyph hunt direct from the scene, even though I doubt he'll ever read this. But the thanks are out there in the ethos, so I gues that's what counts. Thanks again man!

The Beginning of an Era

Well to start off, I dont really know who (if anyone) will read this, but I'm gonna do this anyway. I guess if anything it's a good way of straightening out thoughts and if people take an interest and wanna chat, then hey that's a bonus.
This blog will basically be a mix of thoughts, rants, news about what's going on with me, and most often than not thoughts, rants and news about TV, movies and anything else that might catch my attention at any given time.
Like I said before, I'm not sure if anyone will read this but if you do and you wanna leave a comment or voice an opinion on anything I gotta say, then by all means do and who knows, maybe this blog will go somewhere.
Thanks for reading this (which I assume if you've gotten this far that you have) and in the words of Apu from 'The Simpsons', "Come again!".
